British Canoeing Awards
Hinckley Canoe Club run British canoeing Start, Discover and Explore awards on Thursday nights. All of the awards can be found here.
Through our beginner White Water sessions and our pool sessions you can also progress to the white water award.
This award is designed to develop your understanding of how to plan and paddle a Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) in sheltered water, using the appropriate abilities and decision making skills to travel safely on your pre-determined route.
British Canoeing Coaching, Leadership and Safety Awards
Hinckley Canoe Club support the development of members by running British Canoeing Coaching, Leadership and Safety Awards. These courses will be run throughout the year when there are high enough numbers of interested participants. Feel free to contact the Committee or a Coach to ask them about any of these awards. All of the awards can be found here.
The BC Paddlesport Instructor course is the first step in a coach’s progression. It will teach you the fundamentals of coaching setting you up to be able to help out regularly with lake sessions.
The BC Paddlesport Leader award is the first step in a Leader’s development journey. It allows you to lead trips on flat, sheltered water – perfect for the area around HCC site.
This is a brilliant course for all those looking to play a larger role on trips, and sets up a good foundation for further White Water paddling. Goes through self rescue, peer rescue and kit rescue – essentials for any regular moving water paddler.
These courses will run periodically to ensure all current and aspiring coaches and leaders have the right qualifications for their roles.
