This is an annual event at the Nene white water centre at Northampton, organised and run by the guys from Canoe kayak trader (AKA Leam boat centre). It is a great day for every level of paddler with a trade stand and lots of demo boats of all sorts from various manufacturers.
We had lots of HCC members there. A few joined the workshops that were available including Intro to white water and flat water freestyle. Some just popped in for a wander around and others spent most of the day playing in/trying the demo boats on the river and W/W course.
The last event of the day was the ‘boatercross challenge’ this was a free for all race down the course, 4 at a time with the winner of each heat going through to the final. Quite a few of us entered it, some took it more seriously that others with the odd boat fight and spray deck pulled off on the way down the course. Penny is now the official HCC boatercross champion.
This is a really good day out and one for your calendar for next year. Dave Clarke
