Chairman's Statement.

As always its been a busy month with lots going on,

The Canoe camping trip had lots of members enjoying a great 2 day paddle from Hay on wye to Hereford, we had a Trent trip that was very well attended, a Tryweryn weekend with a paddle on the Saturday and an eventful day mountain biking on the Sunday with 2 ending up in Wrexham hospital.

Hayley is now fully recovered and Dale has a pinned and plated collor bone. There were also 3 trips ideal for introduction to W/W and intermediate paddlers. We had no paddlers on these trips which is quite suprising as there are so many paddlers aiming to do there 3 star W/W kayak.

Well done to the 6 members who passed there FSRT (foundation safety and rescue training} this is a great thing to do for general paddling for them, and for the safety of others who are with them  on the water. Martin Aldridge is now a  4 star leader in open canoe, well done Martin, a great acheivment. Keep an eye on the website and facebook for upcoming trips and events and hopefully there are a few things to keep everyone busy.

See you on the water. Dave Clarke.

White Water Safty Day 5th September

Last Few Spaces!!!

A day of white water safety training, learning how to swim to safety in white water and to use throwlines as rescuer and rescuee. A fun introduction to the basic skills. We are hiring a great external coach for the day. Get the practice in before trying it out for real over the winter.

Bargin price £15 for club members

Please if you do not have a kayak or canoe please park in the main parking area near the bar!

Parking and walking around is a bit of a pain, but this has always been the rule at the lake if you do not have a boat. The reason for this is to save congestion and damage to the area we use and the road. For the people that don't know we do have use of the toilets, changing, shower facility's that are on the outside of the main building (off the decking facing the lake) so this is ideal now its getting a bit cooler.

These are also close to the parked cars, so possibly you could leave dry/warm kit in cars, walk back grab kit, then straight to changing rooms. We have a brilliant facility at Stanton so we need to respect their wishes. Many thanks.

***** Fundraising Officer *****

The committee are looking for help in fundraising and would like someone to take up the challenge. This does not need to be a post and you won't need to come to every meeting. We just need someone who can understand grant forms!

Please contact Dave Clarke if you are interested.

Coaching changes in 2016

Next season we are changing the coaching structure for paddlepower and younger paddlers. Paddlepower will be for 8 to 14 year olds, paddlers under 8 will be in a supervised family group where a parent or guardian will need to be with them on the water, By doing this it will be easier for the older children to progress through the paddlepower scheme and we think it will be more beneficial for the younger children to be with their  guardian..
