Chairman's Statement

Welcome to the December Newsletter

Well it has been a busy month again with lots of events going on. We have had two touring trips, on the Soar and the Tame. We were invited on the Tame by Tamworth CC who along with a few other East Midlands region canoe clubs including HCC are trying to do some ‘club networking’ to create more trips for the members of all the clubs.

The lower Tryweryn trip was changed to the Dee (as there was no water release) this was at a great level for what we needed and was a great day.

The annual Christmas weekend was at Perth-y-Pia in Crickhowell  and went down really well, as always, we paddled the Usk  and did some hill walking. There was also the Christmas meal/social at the Cornerhouse in Bulkington.

All the trip reports are on the website for you to read.

Christmas and the new Year will be here before we know it, we had great fun on the festive Ashby canal trip on 22nd December it finished at Sutton Wharf café for lunch, coffee and cake, we had a great turnout. If you check out the calendar you will see there are lots of trips and events already planned for 2014. There is another block of pool session starting in February, they are going to be 2x45 minute sessions and will be slightly cheaper, this will help with the big demand that we have had for the slots available. We also have a meal/social on 18th January at Cosmo in Coventry.

Please get your nomination forms sent in ready for the AGM on 7th February. This is your club so any help, input or ideas are always welcome.

I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas and happy new (paddling) year, and Let’s hope Santa brings you all that nice new paddling kit that you have all asked for.

See you on the water Dave Clarke
