Welcome to the latest HCC update for June and July.
It's been a very busy 2 months, we had a lot of members and there family's at the HWATC open day where 8 of us entered the raft race, we came a respectable 2nd place beaten by the home team (don't think they will let us forget that).
Sorry we had to cancel our annual fun day on the 23th June but there was a static day at Jackfield rapid instead which was a great success with lots of paddlers and family's there, with some new members who had their first experience of moving water.
There has been an intermediate trip to Symonds Yat and a W/W trip to the Tryweryn which had a big turnout for a warm sunny weekend away. Also there has been a Trent trip from Burton on Trent to Swarkestone. We had the White water safety day on the River Dee where 12 members had a very wet day(luckily it was the warmest day of the year) learning/practicing swimming and rescue techniques on moving water.
Well done to the 11 members who got their level 2 aquatic first aid qualification and to the 6 who passed their FSRT as well. Well done to Nicola, Joy and Nick for passing there 1 star and Chris, Joe and Row for passing there 2 star. Thank you to Chris Moore who has written and submitted a Canoe trail of the Ashby canal (this runs past our home waters) for the canoe England website on behalf of HCC, there will be a link to it on our website soon. A big well done to Dale Clarke for passing his UKCC level 2 coach assessment, so we now have another level 2 in the club.
As you are aware membership renewals are long overdue now. so would be good if members intending to renew could get a form and payment in ASAP please. Remember
to keep an eye on the Website for trips/event including info about pool sessions and trip reports. It gets updated regularly and is also having a members area added with more info and useful things on it for all members.
Happypaddling
