Chairman's Statement.

Welcome to the August/September newsletter

I’d like to start by welcoming all the new members to HCC, membership is now at a record high of 111 members in total, and its great to see the club has grown again this season.

The club has been very busy recently with various trips and events going on. We have had trips on the Avon, Matlock and also weekends on the Tryweryn and Dee. Six members passed their FSRT, and Michael W and Dave G have passed their 3 star w/w, well done guys, a few members attended a slalom taster session which we were kindly invited to by Breakout CC,

The lake sessions have been very busy with lots of coaching, social paddling and taster sessions going on. The last lake session for the season will be on Thursday 25th September. this will be a social paddle for most people, apart from the paddlers doing 2 star assessment.

There will be pool sessions over the winter season so get booked up soon. also we have plenty of trips and events on the calendar of all types suitable for everyone.

See you on the water Dave Clarke.

Barrow Race Series - your chance to enter...

HCC members have been invited to participate in the Barrow down river race series.

Down River Racing is the purist form of Canoe and Kayak Racing in that the paddler is free to find their fastest route down a stretch of water, blending physical conditioning, skill and harmony with the river and their craft, against the clock.

The classic race is usually of about 15 minutes. duration for the fastest paddlers, who set off at one minute intervals and race against the clock.

This classic race series has been extended to six races over the same course, where the river is expected to change character with the seasons, weather and river levels.
