Chairman's Statement.

Welcome to the January newsletter

Happy New Year to you all, I hope you had a nice Christmas break, got plenty of paddling in and if you were lucky got some nice new shiny kit.

It was great to see so many of you at the HCC Christmas meal and hope you all enjoyed the evening. There has been plenty of paddling going on over the last couple of months, including a xmas canal trip, upper Wye trip, Dart weekend and a Trent trip. If anyone fancy’s doing trip reports for any trip they attend it is always appreciated, and will be put on the website.

The winter pool sessions were well attended but have now finished.   The spring ones start in February and we have spaces available so please book your place through Hayley Clarke.

Thank you for your participation in the members survey, this is important to us and helps us to find out the views of the members, which we try to act on to improve the club for the future. Don’t forget HCC clothing is now available to order, all the details are on the website.

The 2015 website calendar has lots of events on already (and gets updated regularly), including pool and lake dates, plenty of river trips a few weekends and the summer Alps holiday to get in your diary.

2015 AGM at Stanton lakes - Friday 6th March!

This year we would like to put two constitution changes forward for the members to vote on at the AGM

1. Concerning the chairman's post on the committee. The constitution states it is a 2 year post, we would like to change this to read, a minimum of 2 years, This would enable a current chairman to be re-elected without committing to a further 2 years.

2. Currently all committee members pay subscription's to the club, other local canoe clubs (Leamington, HPP) give free membership to committee members. This is a way of showing the clubs appreciation for the work carried out behind the scenes on behalf of the members. We (the committee) feel that rather than automatically getting free membership, we would like to introduce free membership retrospectively for the previous years work. In addition to this we would like to have the option to issue free membership to members (max 3) in recognition of the services they have provided to the club over the previous year.

A committee nomination form is attached, please ask the person before you nominate them.
