HCC Ongoing COVID-19 Restrictions Review:

  • Successful first public Lake Session Thursday 18th June. Plans seemed to work well. The first group was getting onto the water as the second group arrive.
  • Paddlers parked closer than anticipated so purchase football training style cones to help define parking spaces and another sign “Participants only past this point” Action: LO
  • Deck brush needed Action: PM
  • Try to avoid having two new coaches on the same week to keep consistency of messages and remind each to watch the video in advance of the session so they understand what is expected.
  • Coaches/Volunteers to be contacted via the Messenger Group to ask for weekly coaches again. Action: LO/BH
  • Martin Stretton available for next week.
  • 15/06/20 LO emailed all current paid members to say Lake Session bookings “Go Live” today via website. Also sent links to website Risk Assessment and Member Information on COVID-19 changes.
  • HCC Website (under Member Info/Club Documents) now includes:
    • COVID-19 Risk Assessment and General Lake Risk Assessment 2020
    • Member’s Information
    • Coaches/Volunteer’s expanded Information and
    • Cleaning Procedure
  • Stan Crane has created a short video which all the Committee had seen prior to the meeting. Everyone was very complimentary about the video and it will be shared with Members on Facebook and the Club website today.
  • BC have shared additional resources this week. Poster templates and a consent form designed to be used as a hard copy. It was decided that the consent form was already covered in HCCs pre-booking questions.
  • Lake sessions are not being filled fully, unlike the Trip Places. A number of factors may be affecting. For newer less experienced members this may be the level of personal experience, lack of beginner coaching and no kit loans. For more experienced members, the Lake only offers flat water paddling.  BH offered to set up a Facebook Poll or a google doc questionnaire to ask for Members feedback but decision taken to wait for a few weeks to see if uptake increases or Government Guidelines change further.

Next meeting and Location:        Virtual Committee Meeting early July, date to be determined.
